Sybil Sohail win a gold medal in asian Weightlifting championship

Powerlifter-turned-weightlifter Sybil Sohail made history as the first Pakistani woman to win a gold medal at the Asian Weightlifting Masters Championship in Doha, Qatar. Competing in the 59kg category, she lifted a total of 95kg — 40kg in snatch and 55kg in clean and jerk — to secure the top spot.

This triumph marked Sybil’s international debut in weightlifting, adding to her impressive record as a Commonwealth Powerlifting Champion. She had set her sights on raising the Pakistani flag at this event and dedicated herself to making it happen.

“I aim to make my country and my family proud,” said the 31-year-old from Doha. “We have sacrificed a lot for this sport, but I need to make sure all that effort pays off.”
